Interesting, Useful and Fun Philosophy Links

(and a few that aren't so philosophical)

Here are a few, divided by categories. I'll add more as I find them and deem them worthy.

American Philosophy:

The Pragmatism Cybrary (a useful page on American Pragmatism, maintained by John Shook)

The Center for Dewey Studies (the best place for Dewey stuff)

A Stroll With William James (a great James source out of Emory University--includes many e-texts)

The SAAP Homepage (updates on the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy)

E-Texts of William James (a very nice collection)

Arisbe (a great page on C. S. Peirce, including a number of e-texts)

Peirce.org (another good Peirce page)

The Commens Dictionary of Peirce’s Terms (defined in Peirce’s own words; very useful!)

Encyclopedias:

The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (still under construction, but some good stuff already there)

The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy (haven't fully investigated this one, but it looks substantial)

Various: (meaning I don't have enough of each to assign separate categories):

The American Philosophical Association (the master organization of academic philosophy)

History of Modern Philosophy (a great modern philosophy page from U of Oregon--includes e-texts)

Philosophy Resources on the Net (a nice variety of links from the University of Texas)

Course Handouts and Exercises for Philosophy Classes (A nice collection courtesy of David Hildebrand)

Peter Suber's Guide to Philosophy on the Internet (used to be the mother of all philosophy sites—no longer maintained)

EpistemeLinks (a strong resource for philosophy on the net)

Humor:

Philosophical Humor (courtesy of David Chalmers)

The Philosophers' Drinking Song (a must link for any philosophy page worth its salt. A Monty Python Classic!)

The Loris Hub (an absolute MUST see--especially the "Big Dummy's Guide to Philosophy, Theology and Ethics" and the piece called "Onken Family Cooking." This is good philosophy!)

The Market as God (well, kind of humor, kind of philosophy, but it is a must read, written by Harvey Cox for the Atlantic Monthly)

Walter Miller's Homepage (Definitely not philosophy, but incredibly funny in a sick sort of way. Go at your own risk. Be forewarned--this may be the world's ugliest web page.)

Other E-Texts:

Descartes' Meditations on First Philosophy

Kant's Critique of Pure Reason

Various The Bible, Revised Standard Version

Various Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century Philosophers

Various Alex Catalogue of Electronic Texts

Various Episteme Links (lots of texts and other stuff)
